Are we safe in the world today?

I read an article in the Denver Post called "Teen slain on Halloween out buying Groceries" by Kirk Mitchell and Kieran Nicholson. It was about a boy who was going to buy groceries for his family when he was killed. The police said it was around 9:45 p.m. His father said " HE had a good heart." He was shot by a someone in a dark colored truck eye-witnesses say.

I related to this article because it shows how unsafe we are in the streets at night or even in the day. We can be hurt easily because not many people watch out for one another. Most people keep to themselves when they don't know people very well. When someone is getting hurt people fear for their own lives even if they could help the one being hurt. We all have to learn to help people even if it means getting hurt ourselves. Many people are out on Halloween night so it is probably the most difficult day to let children go out by themselves because of the many people looking to hurt them. Are we ever safe on the streets? Are we as safe in the world today as we were along time ago?

Sean,
After I read this artical I totally agree with you. You asked the question "are we safe in the world today?" so my responce to you is that I really don't think we are safe because even if we have the police or an army with us we could get hurt or even killed because on the streets, when something happens that you don't suspect you will never be safe. Another question you asked that got me thinking was, "Are we ever safe on the streets?" I think that we are never safe in the streets because it doesn't matter what time you are outside someone could be watching you waiting for just the right moment to hurt you.

i agree that we arent safe today and the world when our parents were kids was much safer than it is now. even with all of the people trying to make the world a safe place but it is getting more and more dangerous. this also reminded me of my dad who is curently sefving his sentance for hitting a man in a hockey game. of state spent alot of our tax dollars to convict him of somthing that happened in a hockey game were there are risks that you take and can be prevented by a 30 dollar face mask.so my point is that they wasted their money on a hockey game instead of using that time and money to find real criminals sucks as rapers, child molesters and gang members.

I agree with you too. People get shot and killed every day even though we have the police. The police only do stuff half the time. Do you think we should have a better police people?
